Spider-Man Brand New Day: Trailer History Made as View Count Surpasses 1 Billion

Date:

It has never happened before in the history of movie trailers — and Spider-Man: Brand New Day has made it happen. The trailer released by Sony on March 17 crossed one billion views within four days, an achievement WaveMetrix confirmed by the following Tuesday. The global appetite for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has never been more apparent than it is right now.

The first-day numbers alone were extraordinary: 718.6 million views in 24 hours. These figures dismantled the previous records set by Deadpool & Wolverine’s Super Bowl teaser at 365 million and Spider-Man: No Way Home’s 355.5 million. Even the gaming world’s Grand Theft Auto VI record of 475 million views in one day was left behind.

WaveMetrix’s cumulative count of 1.1 billion by Tuesday confirmed that Brand New Day had made history on multiple fronts simultaneously. It holds the single-day record, the four-day record, and the all-time total record for any movie trailer. No film promotional campaign had previously achieved even a fraction of this total.

Brand New Day arrives in theatres on July 31, continuing the story of Peter Parker following No Way Home’s world-altering memory spell. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and co-stars Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Tramell Tillman, and Michael Mando. Indian audiences will find the film available in six languages.

The trailer’s depiction of a forgotten and vulnerable Peter Parker struck an emotional chord with fans across every demographic. Social media platforms became a canvas for fan tributes, humorous titles, and heartfelt engagement with the story. Brand New Day is arguably the most emotionally anticipated superhero film in years, and its record-smashing trailer is only the beginning.
